DR Congo won a penalty shootout against Nigeria to secure a 2026 World Cup berth, while Egypt clinched qualification with a 3-0 win over Djibouti.

DR Congo advanced to the intercontinental playoffs after defeating Nigeria in a tense penalty shootout following a 1‑0 loss to Cameroon in the second semi‑final. The victory came after Nigeria beat Gabon 4‑1 in the first semi‑final, and DR Congo’s win over Nigeria in the final secured Africa’s spot in the March intercontinental playoffs.

Egypt, led by Mohamed Salah who scored twice, beat Djibouti 3‑0 in Casablanca in October, earning a place in the 2026 World Cup finals. The win, with a game in hand, marks Egypt’s fourth finals appearance, though the team has yet to win a World Cup match.
