Gio Lopez Transfers from UNC to Wake Forest

Gio Lopez, who played for North Carolina under Bill Belichick, has transferred to Wake Forest, saying the environment at UNC felt like a suffocating workday.

Lopez, who started 11 games for UNC in 2025, said the coaching style under Belichick was “more like work” and that the pressure to follow exact instructions left him losing love for the game.
