Hibs legend Alex Cropley dies aged 75

Alex Cropley, former Hibs and Scotland midfielder, died at 75. He played 199 games for Hibs, scoring 49 goals, and helped win the 1972 League Cup.

Alex Cropley, born in Aldershot and raised in Edinburgh, began his career at Hibernian in 1968. He made 199 appearances, scored 49 goals, and was a key member of the 'Turnbull's Tornadoes' side that lifted the League Cup in 1972.

The club released a statement saying everyone at Hibernian FC is deeply saddened by his passing. Cropley also earned two caps for Scotland and later played for Arsenal, Aston Villa, Toronto Blizzard and Portsmouth before retiring at 31.
