Houston Texans have quickly become the Houston Trojans
USC has produced many high-caliber players for the NFL. USC has not distributed players to any team in recent years as much as the Houston Texans. The team has continued to hit with players from USC. This year the Texans went that route again by selecting Kamari Ramsey in the fifth round.
Here is the list of USC Trojans that are now on the Texans:
Defensive end Solomon Byrd
Solomon Byrd did not see the field at all last season, and in 2024, he only managed to see 1 game of action. In that game, he tallied 2 solo tackles and a pass interception. Demeco Ryans loves depth on the defensive line, especially, but Byrd will be a player who will have to have a great camp to hold onto his roster spot. In his final season at USC, he showed great promise for being a potential high-quality rotational player, as he tallied 11 TFLs and 6 sacks. He needs to get back to being a distributor, or he could end up being on the outs after training camp. game-sweetbonanza.com
Safety Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock, so far, has been the best former Trojan on the Texans. In just two seasons, he has become a building block for Houston and is a big part of the best secondary in the NFL. Bullock, in his two seasons, has posted 9 interceptions, 21 pass deflections, and 115 tackles. Bullock has shown up in the big games by picking off Josh Allen this past season twice in a match vs the Bills. Bullock may have just started his career, but he is already a top safety in the league.
Corner Jaylin Smith
Jaylen Smith, in his rookie season, did not see much time as he was mostly a special teamer. In 4 games, Smith managed to post 4 tackles total. There is still upside with Smith, and in year 2, he could see more time as there is more room opening up with some players leaving last season. At the bare minimum, Smith will still have real value on special teams this season.
Running back Woody Marks
Woody Marks got his number back and will be riding with #4 this season. It was a productive rookie season; he filled in very well after Joe Mixon's absence all season long. Marks had 703 yards rushing, 208 yards receiving, and 5 total touchdowns for the season. Marks best showing came in the wild card game vs Pittsburgh, where he ran for 112 yards and a touchdown. He was the best performer on the Texans' offense that game. With the addition of David Montgomery, Marks will be taking a back seat, but he will still have a better chance to do what he knows best, and that is to be a threat out of the backfield. He can also have fresh legs with another more than serviceable running back in the room, so when a big play is needed, he can make it.
Safety Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey joins the bunch of alums this season with very valuable versatility and a skillset that aligns very well with what Demeco Ryans wants to do defensively. Woody Marks and Calen Bullock are the two Trojans who got off to a hot start to their career. I see the same kind of rookie success for Ramsey, as he is a player who will find his way on the football field.

Herbert Hainer: 'You wear tradition under your shirt'

After FC Bayern’s legendary Montagskickers (‘Monday players’) had finished their morning session, a special lunch was on the agenda this week. Despite his busy schedule over the previous days – Friday’s basketball game against Alba Berlin at the SAP Garden, Saturday’s home match against Heidenheim at the Allianz Arena, and Sunday’s Women’s Champions League match in Barcelona – president Herbert Hainer stopped by to chat with the members of the German record champions’ storied team about the past, present and future. “Among others, Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have played for the Montagskicker, and what defines our club is that we are a family,” Hainer said in his welcome remarks. “For us, it’s not just about the pros in the spotlight – the ‘Mokis’ are an important part of our club. I’m happy to be here with you.”
The 20 dedicated players in attendance – including new ‘Moki’ president Markus Hörwick, ex-FCB player Norbert Janzon, former vice president Bernd Rauch, former administrative advisory board chairman Eckhart Müller-Heydenreich, long-time youth director Werner Kern, former assistant coach Michael Henke, writer Prof. Dr. Helmut Zöpfl and Zlatan Čajkovski, son of legendary FCB coach “Tschick” Čajkovski – eagerly asked questions.
Super league, Sportpark Unterhaching & Vincent Kompany
For example, when the question arose as to whether the Super League was truly off the table, the president once again reiterated the club’s stance: “FC Bayern was the first to take a clear stand against it, even before the Premier League, and nothing has changed in that regard.” The ‘Mokis’ were also interested in the background to the acquisition of the Sportpark Unterhaching stadium (Hainer: “This marks a new era for our successful women’s team”), the finances (Hainer: “We aren’t dependent on an investor and enjoy this freedom; we have to be grateful to Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeneß, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Karl Hopfner for laying the club’s foundations”), and the work of head coach Vincent Kompany (Hainer: “A humble person who puts himself at the service of the club”). Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, had told Hainer over lunch ahead of the Champions League quarter-final clash that when it comes to “benchmarks for his own club, he looks to only one other club – and that is FC Bayern.”
As well as that anecdote, there was also applause for Müller-Heydenreich and Werner Fuchs, who, at 91 and 90 years old respectively, are still on the ball for the ‘Mokis’ during their weekly training sessions at the FC Bayern Campus. There are currently around 45 members of the group, which was founded in 1973, with about 15 actively playing. Hörwick took over the presidency this year from honorary council member Reinhard Böker. Under his leadership, lunches with special guests are to take place more regularly. “The ‘Mokis’ are part of FC Bayern’s history,” Hainer said in his farewell remarks, “Tradition doesn’t belong in a museum – you wear it under your shirt.”
Inter summer transfer budget revealed amid Bastoni uncertainty and interest in Liverpool duo
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter owners have already made €40-50m available for the summer transfer window, but the budget would increase with the sale of some players, especially Alessandro Bastoni.
Inter are already preparing to strengthen their team for 2026-27 after winning their 21st Scudetto this season.
Gazzetta reports that club owners Oaktree have already informed directors about their transfer budget for the summer, which will be between €40m and €50m.
The Serie A champions are expected to make significant changes, especially in defence, with Yann Sommer, Matteo Darmian, Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij leaving at the end of their contracts in June.

The Nerazzurri have already been linked with Liverpool centre-back Giovanni Leoni, who played under Cristian Chivu at Parma last season.
Inter’s strategy in defence will largely depend on whether Bastoni stays beyond the summer.
President Beppe Marotta has confirmed Barcelona’s interest in the Italian centre-back, yet the Nerazzurri have received no formal proposal.

Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemovic has already reached an agreement with the Nerazzurri, but club-to-club talks are still not at an advanced stage.
Experienced midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also expected to leave at the end of his contract in June, and according to Gazzetta, Curtis Jones is another Liverpool player targeted by the Nerazzurri.
Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario has been identified as the priority to replace Yann Sommer.
According to Gazzetta, Inter and Chivu could even decide to reshape the team, making suitable signings to a four-man defence.
In this scenario, Atalanta-owned Marco Palestra is a primary target, as the Italian can play either as a full-back or an attacking winger.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Inter still hope to sign Nico Paz from Real Madrid next summer, as the Argentine is expected to return to the Bernabeu from Como at the end of the current campaign.
Evan Mobley is main key for Cavs in second-round battle with Pistons
Evan Mobley and the Cleveland Cavaliers have a date with the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the NBA playoffs. Both teams struggled mightily versus opponents they should have handled in five games in the first round. Cleveland now has a great shot to make the Eastern Conference Finals. That would be a first for both Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley.
To achieve that, Evan Mobley has to be fully unlocked. There were many games in the past series where Mobley was able to score over 20 points. Against the Detroit Pistons, there will be even more opportunities to thrive. Jarrett Allen and Jalen Duren will be duking it out in the paint, but the Pistons do not have an answer for what Mobley can provide.
I think Mobley will be able to get to his spots and eat on the glass, too. Tobias Harris and Duncan Robinson are not the defenders that Scottie Barnes is, nor are the other players the Raptors had on the wing. The real defender the Pistons have is Ausar Thompson, and he will have his hands full with James Harden and Donovan Mitchell.
This is a match-up I see Evan Mobley finishing the series, averaging 20 points a game, and the Cavaliers frontcourt of Jarrett Allen and Mobley dominating. Mobley will also have to put an end to Tobias Harris' hot scoring playoff start, which I think he is more than capable of doing as a former Defensive Player of the Year winner.
I think Cleveland will win this series, but how and when they close this series out directly depends on what version of Evan Mobley shows up in this series.
