Lakers Lose Dončić and Reaves to Season‑Ending Injuries

Lakers guard Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves are out for the remainder of the season after hamstring and oblique injuries, forcing the team to finish the year without its primary playmakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have lost their two main offensive engines. Dončić, who averaged an NBA‑best 33.5 points per game and led the team to a 17‑6 run after the All‑Star break, will miss the rest of the season with a left hamstring strain. Reaves, who had stepped up as a playmaker and averaged 23.3 points, was ruled out with a Grade 2 left oblique injury.

With five games left, the Lakers must rely on LeBron James and the remaining roster to close the season. Coach JJ Redick said the focus is on who is available and getting the team positioned for success. The Lakers sit at 50‑27, third in the West, with the Nuggets close behind, and upcoming matchups against the Thunder and Suns will test the depleted squad.
