London Loses 2029 World Athletics Bid to Nairobi

London's bid for the 2029 World Athletics Championships ended in disappointment as World Athletics president Seb Coe announced the event would be held in Nairobi instead. This marks a historic moment for the Kenyan capital, which becomes the first African city to host the global championships.

In a double blow for the British bid, Munich was simultaneously selected to host the 2031 World Athletics Championships, with Coe stating the German city had "all the ingredients to be a spectacular world championships."
