MAC Appeals Michigan-WMU Result, Asks NCAA to Declare Broncos Winner

The Mid-American Conference has appealed the outcome of the Michigan-Western Michigan game, citing a replay protocol error that resulted in an extra second being added to the clock.

The MAC is asking NCAA and College Football Playoff administrators to recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner. Michigan won 13-12 on a Hail Mary pass after the replay official put one second back on the clock, despite the stadium clock showing zeroes when the pass was thrown. Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher stated that the established replay protocol requires the game clock displayed on the program feed to be used, but the Big Ten replay crew relied on a different clock feed within its replay system.

Western Michigan initially accepted the Big Ten's explanation, but after further investigation, the MAC concluded that the replay protocol was not properly followed. Had the protocol been followed correctly and the program-feed clock been used, no additional play would have been awarded, and Western Michigan would have won the game 12-7. piekny-pies.pl
