Pirates' No. 1 prospect Konnor Griffin in extension talks

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin is deep in negotiations for a long-term contract extension. ESPN reports the talks began early in spring training and offer proposals ranging from an eight-year, $111 million deal to a request for an eight-year, $130 million contract.

The 19-year-old consensus No. 1 prospect was assigned to Triple-A to begin the 2026 season.
