Turner Starts for USMNT in 5-2 Loss to Belgium

Matt Turner returned to the USMNT starting lineup for the first time since June 2025, but the team fell 5-2 to Belgium in a friendly at Mercedes‑Benz Stadium.

Turner, who had not started since June 10, 2025, was handed the starting spot by coach Mauricio Pochettino, who wanted to give him a chance after Matt Freese had been the regular. The 29‑win goalkeeper made a few solid saves early on, but Belgium’s attack proved too strong.

Despite a decent start, Turner conceded two goals in the second half, including a long‑range shot from Zeno Debast and a late strike from Amadou Onana. The USMNT will now evaluate the keeper’s performance as the competition for the goalkeeping spot remains wide open.
