UConn's Sarah Strong Faces Home State in Sweet 16

UConn sophomore Sarah Strong, a North Carolina native, will face her home state in the Sweet 16, aiming to eliminate UNC from the NCAA tournament.

Sarah Strong grew up near Chapel Hill and once considered UNC, but chose UConn after being drawn to Geno Auriemma’s program. The 2026 first‑team All‑American leads UConn in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Strong will face North Carolina in the Sweet 16 on Friday at 5 p.m. ET on ESPN, hoping to eliminate her home state from the tournament.
