Welsh Rugby Union EGM cancelled as chair steps down

An extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has been cancelled after chair Richard Collier-Keywood announced he will step down.

Central Glamorgan Rugby Union (CGRU) proposed motions of no confidence and governance changes but withdrew them after the leadership exits. The group stated they have achieved their objectives and will seek constructive engagement with the WRU board regarding future governance.

Collier-Keywood is the second major figure to leave Welsh rugby in recent weeks following the departure of PRB chair Malcolm Wall. The WRU had faced criticism over controversial plans to cut professional teams, though the potential impact of this leadership change on those plans remains unclear.
