White Sox's Murakami Hits 4th HR in First 8 Games, Beats Ohtani Record

Chicago White Sox third baseman Munetaka Murakami hit his fourth home run in his first eight MLB games, surpassing Shohei Ohtani's record for Japanese players.

Murakami achieved this feat during Saturday's 6-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. He launched a solo shot in the sixth inning to secure the record.

The 26-year-old joined an exclusive group by hitting three home runs in his first three games of the 2026 season. He previously won the Japan Central League MVP and broke Sadaharu Oh's single-season home run record in NPB.
