Arizona Cardinals K Chad Ryland 2026 offseason profile

The 2026 league year is coming next month. It officially begins on March 11, with the legal negotiating period beginning on March 9.

The Arizona Cardinals have many roster decisions to make before then.

Leading up to the new league year, we will profile every player on the roster, go over what they did last season, what their contract status is and what they face in 2026.

Next up is kicker Chad Ryland.

Chad Ryland 2025 season

After breaking out in 2024 with game-winning kicks and making 28-of-32 kicks and making all four from at least 5 yards, he did not replicate the same success in 2025.

He had to deal with three different holders during the season, and he was not as consistent. He missed eight field goals last season, including at least one in five of the last six games he attempted one.

Chad Ryland contract status

Ryland is a restricted free agent after three credited seasons. If tendered, he could negotiate with other teams, but Cardinals could match any offer and, depending on the tender, receive draft compensation if they do not.

Chad Ryland offseason outlook

The Cardinals do not plan on tendering Ryland, but that doesn't mean they won't re-sign him. It just means that they don't want to pay him at least $3.5 million in 2026.

With a new head coach and special teams coordinator, we will see what the plan is at kicker. In three NFL seasons, he has had one good one and two inconsistent ones. Will the Cardinals look in a different direction?
