Andrea Pavan Discharged After Elevator Shaft Fall

Italian golfer Andrea Pavan was discharged from a South African hospital after falling three stories in an elevator shaft. He will stay for five weeks of rehab before heading back to the U.S.

Pavan, 36, suffered fractures to several vertebrae and required shoulder and back surgeries following the accident at the DP World Tour’s Investec South African Open. He posted on Instagram that walking again feels like a miracle and thanked supporters for prayers and aid.

A GoFundMe set up by a former teammate has raised over $81,000. Pavan’s recovery will determine when he can return to the golf course, but the ability to walk marks a major milestone.
