Veteran Max Scherzer confirmed he is healthy and ready to compete for a spot on the Blue Jays' opening-day roster despite a late arrival to spring training.

Scherzer officially re-signed with the Blue Jays on a one-year deal and stated he will be ready for Opening Day. The veteran threw 45 pitches in his last mound session and expressed a desire to pitch.

He joins a crowded rotation mix including Kevin Gausman and Dylan Cease, while Shane Bieber is slated to start the season on the injured list.
