The Chargers announced plans to cut veteran guard Mekhi Becton, who signed a two‑year deal last March without guaranteed money for 2026. The move would free $9.7 million in cap space and leave the team with $2.5 million in dead money. Becton appeared in 15 regular‑season games and started the playoff loss to the Patriots.

Becton, a 2020 Jets first‑round pick, struggled early but earned a starting role with the Eagles in 2024, helping them to a Super Bowl win before signing with the Chargers.
