Shaheed Not Near Seahawks Extension, Schefter Says

Rashid Shaheed will test free agency Monday as the Seahawks are not close to a contract extension, Adam Schefter reports.

Adam Schefter says the Seattle Seahawks and Rashid Shaheed are not close to a contract extension, meaning the receiver will enter the open‑market on Monday. Shaheed, who wore number 22 and was part of the team that reached Super Bowl LX, was eligible for an extension to keep him from the full free‑agency bidding war.

The Seahawks used 4th‑ and 5th‑round picks to acquire Shaheed, but the lack of a deal has dampened hopes of keeping him. Other key players, including Kenneth Walker and Boye Mafe, are also reported to be out of reach for the franchise.
