Walton Takes Stake in Diamondbacks

Walmart heir Rob Walton, the richest owner in major US sports, has purchased a 10% stake in the Diamondbacks at a $2 billion franchise valuation.

Walton, worth $146 billion according to Forbes, quietly acquired the stake in 2024, with most proceeds funding Chase Field renovations. The team has publicly committed $250 million for ballpark improvements.

As a minority owner with no decision-making responsibilities, Walton joins existing managing general partner Ken Kendrick and other investors in the organization.
